If you’re planning a trip away, one of the first questions is a practical one: what will it cost to have someone look after your cat? Here’s an honest breakdown of cat-sitting prices in Manchester, so you know what to expect and what to look out for.

Typical prices in Manchester

Most professional cat sitters in South Manchester charge somewhere between £10 and £25 per visit, depending on visit length and what’s included. As a rule of thumb:

• Shorter “feed and check” visits sit at the lower end, but often exclude play time or home care
• 30-minute full-service visits — feeding, litter, play, and home checks — typically cost £14–£18
• 45–60 minute visits can run £18–£25

Bank holidays and peak dates. Most sitters charge more at Christmas, New Year and bank holidays. We apply a 50% surcharge on those days and always tell you in advance — beware of anyone who’s vague about peak pricing until the invoice arrives.

Medication needs. Some sitters charge extra for administering medication. We don’t — oral medication, drops, and insulin injections are included, as long as everything is clearly labelled.

Extras that shouldn’t be extras. Key collection, “additional” play time, and home-care tasks like plants and post are sometimes billed separately. Ask up front. With us, key collection is complimentary and home care is built in.

How does it compare to a cattery?

Catteries in Greater Manchester typically charge per cat, per night — and multi-cat households feel that quickly. Two cats in a cattery can easily cost as much as, or more than, daily home visits, and that’s before you factor in the stress of the journey and an unfamiliar environment. Is a cheaper sitter a false economy?

1. Insurance. A professional should hold public liability insurance and be happy to show it. We carry £5 million public liability cover.
2. DBS check. This person will hold your house keys. A current DBS certificate is a reasonable minimum.
3. A meet and greet. Any good sitter will want to meet you and your cat before the first booking — free, and with no obligation.
